Gwen attends Vincennes University as a Pre-Veterinary Medicine student and plans to transfer to Purdue University to become a Veterinarian. They have always had a passion for working with animals whether it be her horse, goat, or other pets in the animal-care industry. She wants to become a Vet to continue to help others and provide quality care for the pets that need it most.
If you could have any animal in the world as a pet, what would it be, and why?
I would have a pet raccoon. They are incredibly smart animals and are super cute when they use their paws like little people!
Do you currently have any pets? What are their names and what is your favorite thing about them?
I have a horse named Goat and I love his goofy personality. My favorite thing about my three cats, Ed, Lyla, and Hazel is that they greet me everyday when I come home and love to sleep on their squishmallows. I like to teach my dog new tricks, my favorite trick that I taught Henry, is “whisper”.
What do you find most rewarding about working with animals?
Gaining the trust of the animals you work with is the most rewarding. Being able to connect with an animal that doesn’t understand what you say, but understands your empathy and compassion is incredibly special.
