Online Vet Visits in Portage, IN

At Coyne Veterinary Center, we know how important it is to have easy access to high-quality veterinary medicine. It’s not always easy to make it to the veterinary clinic, which is why we’re now offering telemedicine services! Through an easy-to-use smartphone app, you’ll be able to experience online vet visits and connect directly with your veterinarian from the comfort of home.

In this time of the coronavirus pandemic, telemedicine is a safe way to stay connected with us for your pet’s care while also practicing social distancing.

Let’s Get Started

Our telemedicine app, Medici, is a piece of cake to use. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Download the Medici app from the Apple or Google Play store
  2. Connect with Coyne Veterinary Center Portage
  3. Request a consultation!

You'll be able to request a consultation during these hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 7pm; Saturday 8am - 3pm; and Sunday 9am - 2pm. When you initiate a consultation on the app, our staff may ask you a few questions so that they can better inform the veterinarian before your consult. When they have gotten enough background information pertinent to your pet's illness or injury, you will be transferred to speak with a doctor as soon as one becomes available.

When is Telemedicine Appropriate to Use?

Telemedicine, of course, happens digitally, which means there are some inherent limitations. Therefore, it’s important that we only use telemedicine with our current clients with whom we have a strong veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Your pet must also be current on their annual exam. Additionally, keep in mind that not all medical cases can be solved with an online vet visit.

To clarify, here is a list of cases where an online vet visit is appropriate:

  • Your pet is experiencing minor symptoms such as an ear infection, skin infection, sneezing, coughing, or diarrhea.
  • You’ve noticed a behavioral change in your pet such as they’re scratching more than usual, licking their paws, or are simply sleepier than normal
  • Your pet is limping or has minor limb pain
  • Recheck exams after simple procedures or surgeries

You have questions or concerns regarding your pet’s ongoing care

In the event of a pet emergency, do not use telemedicine, but call our animal hospital directly at (219) 763-3311!

Do Online Vet Visits Cost Anything?

Video consultations cost $29, and you’ll be able to set up payment information within your Medici profile. In the event we prescribe medication for your pet or request to see them in-hospital for further testing, these services will incur additional charges. However, an in-person consultation after an online vet visit will be discounted.
