That’s why our knowledgeable team in Portage is available 7 days a week to offer advice and provide important pet reproductive services, which are essential for safe and healthy pet pregnancies. While animal reproduction is certainly natural, complications can ensue and this could be extremely costly for both the animals and you.
While Coyne Veterinary Center is happy to work with experienced pet breeders, we are also more than able to help regular pet owners with a surprise pregnancy on their hands. Whatever challenge you’re facing, you can always reach out to us for guidance. Call us at (219) 763-3311.
PET REPRODUCTIVE SERVICES
Our hospital offers various reproductive services for both male and female pets. These include:
- Pre-breeding exams to make sure the male and female are both healthy
- Pregnancy diagnosis via ultrasound
- Progesterone level testing
- Artificial insemination (external or surgical)
- Ovulation timing
- Semen evaluations
- Semen collection and transport (for out-of-state breeding)
- Litter evaluation
Timing is Everything
As a professional breeder, you know how important it is to get the timing right. This is especially critical for females that have been impregnated via artificial insemination, which has a lower success rate than natural breeding in which the male is present.
To find out when the female will begin ovulating, we need to conduct progesterone testing. This procedure enables us to measure the female’s progesterone levels and help breeders set a breeding schedule for their animals. Once the female’s levels have reached a specific value, they will be ready to breed.
